Summary of the story
Several millennia ago, Steppenwolf and his Parademon army endeavored to conquer Earth by harnessing the collective energies of the three Mother Boxes. However, their efforts were thwarted by a coalition of the Olympian Gods, Amazons, Atlanteans, humanity, and extraterrestrial entities. The Mother Boxes were subsequently separated and concealed in disparate locations.
In the present day, humanity remains in a state of mourning following the demise of Superman, an event that triggered the reactivation of the Mother Boxes and Steppenwolf's return to Earth. Steppenwolf's objective is to amass the boxes and merge them into "The Unity," a force that will devastate Earth's ecosystem and transform it into a replica of Steppenwolf's home planet.
Steppenwolf successfully retrieves one of the Mother Boxes from Themyscira, prompting Queen Hippolyta to alert her daughter Diana. Diana teams up with Bruce Wayne to rally other metahumans to their cause. Wayne endeavors to recruit Arthur Curry and Barry Allen, while Diana seeks out Victor Stone. Although Wayne fails to persuade Curry, Allen is eager to join the fight. Stone ultimately joins the team after Steppenwolf abducts his father Silas and other S.T.A.R. Labs personnel in pursuit of the Mother Box safeguarded by humanity.
