Summary of the story
In 1998, at the onset of the Raccoon City incident, the Umbrella Corporation engaged the services of a private military firm to facilitate the evacuation of high-ranking Umbrella executives and government officials. Unit 6 was deployed for this purpose, but unfortunately, the majority of its members were bitten by zombies. The surviving members, JJ and Dylan Blake, contacted headquarters to request extraction and medical attention. However, they were instructed to quarantine and subsequently eliminate their infected comrades, a directive that shocked JJ and enraged Dylan. The ensuing argument was cut short when the infected soldiers attacked and bit JJ, leading to his untimely demise at the hands of a disheartened Dylan.
Seventeen years later, in 2015, in San Francisco, California, Division of Security Operations (DSO) agent Leon S. Kennedy and Field Operations Support (FOS) agent Ingrid Hunnigan were assigned the task of apprehending DARPA researcher and robotics engineer Doctor Antonio Taylor for the unauthorized dissemination of classified information to foreign entities. During the briefing, Leon discovered that Taylor had been abducted by an unknown group while being pursued by a San Francisco Police Department S.W.A.T. team. Leon attempted to intercept the kidnappers, but his efforts were thwarted by Maria Gomez, a criminal who had previously survived an encounter with him the previous year. Meanwhile, Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance (BSAA) advisor Rebecca Chambers informed Agent Chris Redfield of twelve cases involving individuals who had died after being mysteriously infected by an advanced strain of the T-virus and were found with needle marks on their bodies. Chris sought to dissuade his partner, Jill Valentine, from participating in the operation due to her past experiences under the influence of Albert Wesker's mind control and subsequent mental health issues. However, Jill remained resolute in her decision to participate.
