Summary of the story
On the planet Somaris, Pilot Mills persuades his wife Alya that embarking on a two-year space expedition is necessary to acquire the funds required to treat their daughter Nevine's ailment. During the voyage, his spacecraft, the Zoic, is struck by a swarm of asteroids and crash-lands on an extraterrestrial planet, which unbeknownst to him, is Earth, 65 million years ago. With his vessel beyond repair and his passengers deceased, Mills contemplates suicide until he discovers a solitary survivor, a young girl named Koa. Mills sends out a distress signal for rescue and decides to care for Koa. However, they encounter difficulties communicating due to language barriers and a malfunctioning translator.
Subsequently, Mills discovers a functional escape shuttle from the Zoic has landed on a mountaintop. To motivate Koa to accompany him, Mills fabricates a story about her family being situated atop the mountain, when in reality, they perished in the crash. The duo soon realizes that the planet is inhabited by perilous and hostile extraterrestrial creatures, which are, in fact, Earth's dinosaurs. As Mills safeguards Koa, they begin to form a bond.
