Summary of the story
The novel Fear The Invisible Man commences by depicting the protagonist's initial attempt at instilling fear in someone with his unique condition. A vagrant named Thomas Marvel is tormented by Griffin's voice and coerced into working for him. Marvel absconds with Griffin's most prized possession: a satchel containing three journals that expound upon the science of invisibility. Pursuing the drifter, Griffin causes chaos throughout the town, and the eerie news of an invisible man causing destruction in Iping reaches Adeline Kemp, the widow of Reginald.
Reginald, Adeline, and Griffin were once colleagues studying at the university and striving to make scientific breakthroughs. Currently, Reginald has passed away, and Adeline resides as his widow in Port Burdock, on the brink of losing their estate, while Griffin is wandering around, unclothed and injured. He breaks into Adeline's estate and implores her for assistance, to which she acquiesces.
