Summary of the story
In 1953, Elise Rainier resided in Five Keys, New Mexico, with her parents, Audrey and Gerald, and her younger brother, Christian. During this time, Elise and Christian were confronted by a ghost in their bedroom. In a state of panic, Christian searched for a whistle that their mother had given him to call for assistance, but was unable to locate it. In response, Gerald, filled with anger, physically punished Elise and confined her to the basement. Subsequently, Elise opened a mysterious red doorway and was briefly possessed by a demonic entity, resulting in the death of Audrey at the hands of the demon.
Several decades later, in 2010, Elise was employed as a paranormal investigator alongside her colleagues, Specs and Tucker, in California. A man named Ted Garza contacted her, reporting paranormal activity in his home. Upon realizing that the residence was her childhood home, Elise promptly departed to assist him. During her investigation, she discovered Christian's lost whistle, but it vanished once again after encountering a female spirit. Elise informed Specs and Tucker that she had previously encountered the apparition as a young girl and had fled the house in fear of further abuse from her father, abandoning Christian in the process.
