Summary of the story
The arrival of Boss Baby, a formally attired infant who behaves like an adult in the absence of adults, takes Tim Templeton, a creative seven-year-old, by surprise. During a neighborhood play date, Baby convenes a staff meeting with other infants, which Tim attempts to record on tape. However, Baby and his associates detect Tim's actions and pursue him, resulting in the destruction of the tape. As a consequence, Tim is grounded until he learns to coexist with Baby.
Subsequently, Baby discloses the reason for his presence in the Templeton household and his origin. After consuming a unique pacifier, Baby and Tim are transported to Baby Corp, the place where babies come from. While most babies are placed with families, those who do not respond to tickling are sent to management, where they are given a special formula that enables them to think and act like adults while remaining young indefinitely. Baby explains that he is on a special mission to investigate the waning love for babies due to the popularity of puppies and has come to the Templeton's because Tim's parents work for Puppy Co. Once his mission is accomplished, he will depart. However, the boys overhear Baby's boss threatening to terminate him if he fails, which would result in Baby remaining with the Templeton family and growing up. Tim and Baby collaborate to prevent this outcome.
