Summary of the story
Conan, the offspring of Corin, a chieftain of the barbarians, successfully completes the trials to become a warrior, while simultaneously defeating attackers during an ambush. He returns with their heads, demonstrating his proficiency as a skilled yet violent warrior. However, his father believes that he is not yet prepared to wield his own sword. Their village is besieged by Khalar Zym, a warlord who desires to reunite the fragments of the Mask of Acheron to revive his deceased wife and conquer Hyboria. The mask, created by a group of sorcerers to subjugate the world, was shattered into numerous pieces and scattered among the barbarian tribes. After discovering Corin's piece of the mask and slaughtering the entire village, Zym departs, leaving Conan as the sole survivor. He vows to seek revenge.
Several years later, Conan becomes a pirate. He comes across a slave colony and liberates it by eliminating the slave handlers. In the city of Messantia, he encounters Ela-Shan, a thief being pursued by Lucius, one of Zym's soldiers from years before. Conan allows himself to be apprehended alongside Ela-Shan. Conan escapes confinement, eliminates several guards, and confronts Lucius, compelling him to disclose that Zym is searching for a girl, the pure-blooded descendant of the sorcerers of Acheron. Sacrificing the descendant and utilizing her blood will unleash the mask's power. Conan aids the prisoners in their escape, and Ela-Shan informs Conan that he will rendezvous with him at the City of Thieves, Argalon. The prisoners execute Lucius.
