Summary of the story
During the inaugural mission of the Space Shuttle Endeavour in 1992, the shuttle was subjected to solar flare-like energy, resulting in damage. In response, the President of the United States called upon the X-Men to rescue the astronauts. During the rescue operation, Jean Grey was exposed to the energy and subsequently experienced an amplification of her psychic powers. However, her emotional state deteriorated, making it increasingly difficult for her to control her abilities.
Professor Xavier disclosed to the other members of the X-Men that he had suppressed Jean's memory of causing a car accident during her childhood to prevent psychological trauma from destabilizing her. Unfortunately, her enhanced powers were destroying the mental blocks, leading to the manifestation of post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms.
Jean traveled to her hometown after experiencing visions of her father and discovered that he had survived the car accident and abandoned her. She regained her memory and realized that her uncontrollable powers had caused the accident, resulting in the death of her mother. The X-Men arrived on the scene, and a skirmish ensued, resulting in Peter Maximoff's injury. Professor Xavier then mentally froze everyone to allow Raven Darkhölme to persuade Jean to return home. However, during a violent telekinetic episode, Jean accidentally killed Raven.
