Summary of the story
Lao Luo is a highly productive stuntman who collaborates with his equine companion, Red Hare, a horse that was born with deformities and was rescued from euthanasia. Unfortunately, Lao's life has been in disarray since he suffered a severe injury that led to his bankruptcy eight years ago. Additionally, he lost custody of his daughter, Xiao Bao, after divorcing his late wife when she was still young. One evening, Lao and Red Hare engage in a confrontation with debt collectors and discover that Red Hare is at risk of being auctioned off after their original company went bankrupt. Seeking legal assistance, Lao turns to Bao, who is now a university student studying law. Despite her initial reluctance, she offers the services of her boyfriend, Naihua.
Subsequently, after Lao's altercation with the debt collectors goes viral, he and Red Hare are hired for several films, with Bao serving as his agent ad litem. Although they are able to assist each other during difficult times, Bao soon expresses unease about Lao's stunt work, fearing that he and Red Hare may suffer serious injuries. After Lao humiliates Bao in front of Naihua's parents, she leaves him in disgust. Later, Lao and Red Hare are seriously injured during a stunt, and Lao is hospitalized as a result. While searching Lao's home for an identification card, Bao discovers CCTV footage of a failed meeting he had with her when she was younger. Touched by the discovery, Bao reconciles with Lao at the hospital, and Lao promises to cease his stunt work.
