Summary of the story
Prior to his incarceration, Edgin Darvis had served as a member of the Harpers, an esteemed order of peacekeepers. However, his tenure was cut short when his wife was tragically slain by disciples of a Red Wizard whom he had apprehended.
In an effort to start anew with his daughter Kira, Edgin joined forces with the barbarian Holga Kilgore and resorted to thievery. They were aided by the amateur sorcerer Simon Aumar, the rogue con artist Forge Fitzwilliam, and Forge's enigmatic associate Sofina. During a raid on a Harper stronghold, Edgin sought to pilfer a "Tablet of Reawakening" to revive his deceased spouse. Unfortunately, he and Holga were apprehended while their accomplices managed to evade capture.
Following a two-year confinement in the frigid Revel's End, the duo escaped to Neverwinter, unaware that they had been granted clemency. There, they discovered that Forge had ascended to the position of Lord after his predecessor had inexplicably fallen ill. Forge had been caring for Kira and had convinced her that Edgin's avarice had led to his imprisonment. It was subsequently revealed that Sofina was, in fact, a Red Wizard who had colluded with Forge to orchestrate Edgin and Holga's capture.
